Pfeiffer junior Nathan Regis (Charlotte Eagles) scored a goal and his side eventually earned a 2-1 overtime victory against the University of Charleston in Thursday’s semifinal of the 2015 NCAA Division II Championship in Pensacola, Fla.
Regis’ 31st-minute score, which was his DII-leading 30th goal of the season, gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead that nearly held up the rest of the way. Pfeiffer was on the verge of wrapping up the game in regulation, but another PDL standout delayed the celebration as Charleston’s Will Roberts (Michigan Bucks/Ocala Stampede) scored an 89th-minute equalizer to force overtime.
Pfeiffer’s Jaime Siaj found the winner in the 105th minute to advance the Falcons to the championship against Cal Poly Pomona, which blanked Rockhurst 1-0 in Thursday’s other semifinal. Saturday’s title match kicks off at 4 p.m. ET at the Ashton Brosnaham Complex in Pensacola.
Pfeiffer is looking to cap off a perfect season, heading into the championship with a 24-0-0 record.
