TAMPA, Fla. – A total of six teams – the Charlotte Eagles, Myrtle Beach Mutiny, Nashville SC U23, New York Red Bulls U23, Reading United AC and the Ocean City Nor'easters – are represented in the 2017 Premier Development League All-Eastern Conference Team.
Eagles forward Joao Costa and Red Bulls U23 forward Brian White, who is ranked No. 1 overall on the fifth edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list, headline the 11 selections on the All-Eastern Conference Team – which was voted on by members from the Eastern Conference clubs.
GK – Ben Lundgaard, New York Red Bulls U23: The Virginia Tech talent, ranked seventh overall on the fifth edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list, helped the Red Bulls U23 win the Mid Atlantic Division title and PDL Regular Season title. The netminder made 38 saves in 13 games (1,064 minutes), while also recording a 0.85 goals-against average.
D – Douglas Oliveira, Charlotte Eagles: The Indiana Wesleyan University talent played every minute (1,260) of every game (14) for the Eagles to help them reach the PDL Playoffs for a third consecutive year. He scored one goal while also helping the club record four shutouts.
D – Alex Nelson, Myrtle Beach Mutiny: The Wingate University standout scored one goal and provided one assist while helping the Mutiny win their first South Atlantic Division title. He played eight games (720 minutes), helping the team secure two shutouts.
D – Kevin Politz, New York Red Bulls U23: The Wake Forest University talent turned heads in the Mid Atlantic Division, helping the Red Bulls U23 secure three shutouts in nine games (784 minutes).
D – Daniel Kozma, Ocean City Nor’easters: The Grand View University standout helped the Nor’easters record four shutouts in 12 games (1,080 minutes) during the regular season. He also provided two goals.
M – Ricardo Gomez, Myrtle Beach Mutiny: The University of South Florida captain played in all 14 games (1,140 minutes) for the Mutiny, guiding them to a 2017 South Atlantic Division title. He scored two goals and provided three assists during the season.
M – Aaron Molloy, Reading United AC: Molloy, set to play for Penn State University this fall, burst onto the scene during the 2017 PDL regular season, scoring seven goals and one assist for Reading United. He played 11 games (921 minutes) for the club, helping them finish second in the Mid Atlantic Division.
M – Martim Galvao, Nashville SC U23: The Pfeiffer University standout shined in the South Atlantic Division, scoring a team-high seven goals and recording four assists for Nashville. He played 13 games (995 minutes) for the club, helping them finish the regular season with a 8-2-4 record.
F – Tobenna Uzo, Myrtle Beach Mutiny: The Coastal Carolina University product scored 13 goals and provided three assists to lead the Mutiny to a South Atlantic Division title. He played in all 14 regular-season games (1,032 minutes) for the club during the campaign.
F – Brian White, New York Red Bulls U23: The Duke University talent secured the 2017 PDL Golden Boot with a league-high 17 goals in 14 games (1,106 minutes) during the regular season. He also provided three assists to help the Red Bulls U23 reach the PDL Playoffs.
F – Joao Costa, Charlotte Eagles: Costa scored 11 goals and provided two assists for the Eagles, who reached the PDL Playoffs for a third year in a row. The dynamic forward played in all 14 games (1,090 minutes) for the club during the regular season.
