Eagle's Williams shined in John Brown's upset victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan

Latest News

In a big match between John Brown and Oklahoma Wesleyan on Tuesday night, the PDL stars came out to play.

Charlotte Eagles midfielders Ryan Williams and Kelvin Omondi helped John Brown pull off a major upset of Oklahoma Wesleyan, along with Eagles teammate Jovan Petrovic and Ocean City Nor'easters defender Nikola Fimic and forward Alexander Simovic. Williams put up a goal and an assist on a second goal from Omondi en route to the 2-1 victory over their No. 1-ranked NAIA opposition, Oklahoma Wesleyan's first loss of the year, despite Simovic's goal-scoring effort.

It was a similarly impressive display as Wisconsin took on Duke in out-of-conference play. On Duke's side, New York Red Bulls U23 forward Brian White and defender Markus Fjortoft played significant minutes in a 4-3 win. For Wisconsin, Chicago FC United forwards Thomas Barlow and Chris Mueller impressed despite the loss. Mueller provided a goal and two assists for the Badgers and Barlow added one assist of his own, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Blue Devils.

Elsewhere, Carolina Dynamo forward Jon Bakero scored the winner for Wake Forest in a 1-0 win over High Point, Tobacco Road FC forward Alan Winn knocked in two during North Carolina's 4-1 win over George Washington, and Tampa Bay Rowdies U23 forward Ricky Lopez-Espin recorded a goal and assist in Creighton's 2-1 win against Tulsa.
