Several PDL alums have been named to the latest U.S. Men's National Team roster, including one notable player making his senior international debut.
Former Saint Louis FC U23 forward Joshua Sargent has earned his first senior USMNT call-up, as interim coach Dave Sarachan looks to infuse youth into his roster ahead of the team's Nov. 14 friendly against Portugal. Sargent is coming off a spectacular U-20 World Cup in Korea, he became the youngest American to score at the tournament at 17 years old, while guiding the team to the quarterfinals.
Joining Sargent are five other PDL alums. Washington Crossfire alum Kelyn Rowe makes his third appearance on the roster, as former Fredericksburg Gunners and Reading United AC player C.J. Sapong earns his second call-up. Adding some veteran presence are the inclusions of Chicago Fire Premier alums Tim Ream and Eric Lichaj, as well as Sounders FC U23 alum DeAndre Yedlin.
The roster marks a significant departure from the squad involved in World Cup Qualifying, as the roster tends very young compared to previous iterations, with just over half of the roster under the age of 24.
The USMNT will play Portugal at the Estádio Dr.Magalhães Pessoa on November 14 at 3:45 p.m. ET, broadcast on Fox Sports 1. Here's a look at the full roster:
