The Sounders FC U23 rise two spots in this week’s Western Conference Power Rankings after earning two wins to take control of first place in the Northwest Division.

Only two teams in the league are unbeaten following Week 8 action, and FC Tucson is one of them. The Southwest Division leader topped Albuquerque Sol F.C. on the road to extend its win streak to three games.

Here’s the Western Conference’s Top 6:

1. FC Tucson (Previous: 1)
Last Week: W 2-0 at Albuquerque Sol F.C.
Damian German scored two goals to give Tucson its seventh win of the regular season on Saturday. Tucson now has a 7-0-2 record and sits one point in front of San Diego Zest FC with two games in hand.

2. Fresno Fuego (Previous: 2)
Last Week: T 0-0 at San Diego Zest FC
The Fuego’s seven-game win streak was finally snapped against a strong Zest FC side, but the Central Pacific Division leader still earned a point on the road. After a five-game road trip, the Fuego head back home for two consecutive matches at Chukchansi Park.

3. Sounders FC U23 (Previous: 5)
Last Week: W 3-1 at Washington Crossfire, W 2-1 at Portland Timbers U-23s
The Sounders U23 earned two important road results in Week 8 to climb into first in the Northwest. Jose Aguinaga scored a double to lead the Sounders U23 to a 3-1 win against the Crossfire on Tuesday before Guillermo Delgado scored his third goal of the campaign in the team’s comeback win on Saturday. The Sounders U23 now have a 7-3 record with four games remaining in their season.

4. San Diego Zest FC (Previous: 4)
Last Week: W 2-1 vs. FC Golden State Force, T 0-0 vs. Fresno Fuego
Adam Allmaras made five saves to keep the in-form Fuego off the score sheet on Saturday. The 0-0 tie sees Zest FC remain in second in the Southwest. With a 6-1-4 record, Zest FC only has three games remaining in its season to try and leapfrog Tucson into first in the division.

5. Calgary Foothills FC (Previous: 3)
Last Week: T 0-0 vs. Kitsap Pumas, T 0-0 vs. Kitsap Pumas
Foothills FC secured back-to-back home ties against the Pumas, but those ties see the Canadian club fall into second place in the Northwest. Two important matches – an upcoming home-and-home series – with the Sounders U23 could certainly decide the division title.

6. Ventura County Fusion (Previous: NR)
Last Week: W 4-1 at LA Laguna FC, W 1-0 at San Francisco City FC
The Fusion started the season off slow, but have found a good rhythm as of late. A well-worked goal – finished off by Jordan Vale – was enough to earn the Fusion three points against San Francisco City FC in the PDL Game of the Week. With a 5-2-2 record, the Fusion will look to close the gap between themselves and the Southwest’s top two teams.
