Eagles stay at No. 1; Red Bulls U23 enter top five

While the Charlotte Eagles continued to show off their strength in the South Atlantic Division, the New York Red Bulls U23 secured an eye-opening victory against Reading United AC to jump into the top five in this week's Eastern Conference Power Rankings.

The Eagles maintain the top spot in Week 3's rankings, while the Ocean City Nor'easters and Nashville SC U23 move up. After securing two road results, the Seacoast United Phantoms also enter the top five.

Eastern Conference Top 5:

1. Charlotte Eagles

Week 3 Results: W 3-1 at Carolina Dynamo
2017 PDL Record: 2-0-0
Week 4 Matches: at Tobacco Road FC (7 p.m. ET, May 25), vs. Myrtle Beach Mutiny (7 p.m. ET, May 27)
Overview: The Charlotte Eagles, led by 2015 PDL Coach of the Year Dave Dixon, continued to roll on Saturday, earning another impressive win in the South Atlantic Division. Joao Costa, who was named Week 2's PDL Player of the Week, scored a goal against the Carolina Dynamo, bringing his season total to four. Kelvin Omondi also scored against the Dynamo and now has three goals in two games this year.

2. Ocean City Nor'easters

Week 3 Results: W 4-1 vs. Evergreen FC, W 3-2 vs. Evergreen FC
2017 PDL Record: 2-0-0
Week 4 Matches: at FA Euro New York (7:30 p.m. ET, May 25), at New York Red Bulls U23 (7 p.m. ET, May 27)
Overview: The Ocean City Nor'easters recorded back-to-back wins against Evergreen FC, including an incredible comeback victory on Sunday. Ignaco Tellechea scored two goals to lead the 2016 Eastern Conference champions to a 4-1 win on Friday. After going down 2-0 on Sunday, the Nor'easters stormed back in the final minutes of the match, with Akiel Barrett scoring one goal and assisting another in the 3-2 win.

3. Nashville SC U23

Previous: No. 4
Week 3 Results: W 4-3 vs. South Georgia Tormenta FC
2017 PDL Record: 2-0-0
Week 4 Matches: vs. Tri-Cities Otters (7 p.m. CT, May 26), vs. SC United Bantams (7 p.m. CT, May 28)
Overview: The Nashville SC U23, as well as Martim Galvao, continued to shine at Vanderbilt Football Stadium. The talented forward, who earned Week 2 Team of the Week honors, recorded one goal and one assist in his side's 4-3 win against South Georgia Tormenta FC on Saturday. Blake Wilson scored his second of the PDL campaign, while Tanner Dieterich and David Ekern netted their first goals of the season.

4. New York Red Bulls U23

Week 3 Results: W 3-2 vs. Reading United AC
2017 PDL Record: 1-0-0
Week 4 Matches: vs. Jersey Express (7:30 p.m. ET, May 24), vs. Ocean City Nor'easters (7 p.m. ET, May 27)
Overview: The New York Red Bulls U23 have started the 2017 PDL regular season off on the right foot, taking down Reading United AC 3-2 at home. Jose Aguinaga and Brian White each recorded one goal and one assist in the win, while Zach Knudson also scored a goal for the 2015 PDL Runners-Up.

5. Seacoast United Phantoms

Week 3 Results: W 4-1 at Westchester Flames, W 2-1 at AC Connecticut
2017 PDL Record: 3-0-0
Week 4 Matches: at FC Boston (6 p.m. ET, May 27)
Overview: Not many other teams across North America have started the season as hot as the Seacoast United Phantoms, who are 3-0 after two weeks of play. After defeating the Western Mass Pioneers, who earned a PDL Playoffs berth in 2016, 2-0 in Week 2, the Phantoms earned two wins in Week 3. Terence Carter scored a goal in each match, as the Northeast Division side topped the Westchester Flames 4-1 on Saturday and then beat AC Connecticut 2-1 on Sunday.
