K-W United takes control of top spot after fourth straight win

K-W United FC jumps into the top spot in the Central Conference Power Rankings after winning its fourth game of the 2017 Premier Development League regular season on Sunday.

The Michigan Bucks move to second after not taking part in league play during Week 5, while the Saint Louis FC U23, the Thunder Bay Chill and Chicago FC United round out the top five.

1. K-W United FC

Week 5 Results: W 2-0 vs. Dayton Dutch Lions
2017 PDL Record: 4-1-0
Week 6 Matches: vs. Derby City Rovers (7:30 p.m. ET, June 7), vs. Cincinnati Dutch Lions (4 p.m. ET, June 11)
Overview: K-W United FC takes the No. 1 spot from the Michigan Bucks after recording their fourth consecutive victory in the Great Lakes Division. Wesley Cain provided both goals in his side's 2-0 win against the Dayton Dutch Lions on Saturday, while Sameer Fathazada and Liam Callahan recorded the assists. Callahan is one of four K-W United players ranked on the first edition of the 2017 PDL Top Prospects list.

2. Michigan Bucks

Week 5 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 2-1-0
Week 6 Matches: at Cincinnati Dutch Lions (7 p.m. ET, June 8), at West Virginia Chaos (4 p.m. ET, June 10)
Overview: The Michigan Bucks had the week off of PDL play to focus on Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and U.S. Soccer National Amateur Championship matches. While the Bucks lost to the United Soccer League's Saint Louis FC in the Open Cup's Third Round, the club claimed the Hank Steinbrecher Cup title against AFC Cleveland on Saturday. Francis Atuahene, ranked fourth on the PDL Top Prospects list, leads the club in goals scored with three this regular season.

3. Saint Louis FC U23

Week 5 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 3-1-0
Week 6 Matches: vs. St. Louis Lions (5:30 p.m. CT, June 7)
Overview: The Saint Louis FC U23 had the week off after securing two wins and a tie in Week 4. University of Akron talent Sam Gainford has scored a goal in each game for the club while also providing one assist. Kyle Dal Santo and Drew Nuelle each have one shutout on the season.

4. Thunder Bay Chill

Previous: No. 4
Week 5 Results: W 1-0 at WSA Winnipeg, W 3-0 at WSA Winnipeg
2017 PDL Record: 2-0-0
Week 6 Matches: vs. Des Moines Menace (6:30 p.m. ET, June 9), vs. Des Moines Menace (6:30 p.m. ET, June 10)
Overview: The Thunder Bay Chill begin the 2017 PDL campaign with two wins after taking down WSA Winnipeg two times on the road in Week 5. Goalkeeper Filippo Torelli recorded shutouts in both matches for the club. The Chill now face off against Heartland Division rivals Des Moines Menace twice in Week 6.

5. Chicago FC United

Week 5 Results: None
2017 PDL Record: 1-0-1
Week 6 Matches: at St. Louis Lions (5 p.m. CT, June 10)
Overview: Chicago FC United had Week 5 off in the PDL. The club fell in the Third Round in the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday and then suffered a defeat in the semifinals of the Hank Steinbrecher Cup against the Michigan Bucks. With tough games ahead, Chris MuellerMark Segbers and Ryan Sierakowski, who were all named to the first edition of the PDL Top Prospects list, will look to lead the club.
