While a few PDL players lead their collegiate teams from the front this weekend with goals and assists, one lead from the back by keeping zeroes on the scoreboard for their opponents.

In a pair of back-to-back shutout victories on Friday and Saturday, Portland Timbers U23 goalkeeper Jordan Farr took home a pair of clean sheets for the Corban Warriors, keeping their perfect record intact in both overall and conference play.

Joining Farr as the top performers this week were Chicago FC United midfielder Oscar Gonzalez, SIMA Aguilas forward Santiago Patino, South Georgia Tormenta FC forward Kieran Roberts, and FC Tucson midfielder Moshe Perez.

Also honored are Chicago FC United forward Ryan Sierakowski and Sounders FC U23 forward William Bagrou

Top Five Performers

Jordan Farr - Corban - Portland Timbers U23

The Corban Warriors remained undefeated after their two matches this week, with Portland Timbers U23 goalkeeper Jordan Farr playing a massive role. The Warriors went back-to-back this weekend, with a 1-0 win over Oregon Tech on Friday and a 2-0 win over Southern Oregon on Saturday. In goal, Farr went all 180 minutes, made seven saves, and recorded a pair of clean sheets to bring his total on the year to four and bring his GAA down to an astounding 0.88. The pair of wins leave Corban at 10-0-1 and a perfect 6-0-0 in conference play.

Oscar Gonzalez - Illinois-Chicago - Chicago FC United

The University of Illinois-Chicago won twice this week to double their win total on the season to four, and Chicago FC United midfielder Oscar Gonzalez was a key component. In the team’s 3-1 win over Northern Illinois on Tuesday, Gonzalez scored the opener in the 55th minute for the Flames before assisting the third and final goal for his team in the 76th minute. In Saturday’s 4-2 win over IUPUI, Gonzalez added another two goals, opening the match again in the 17th minute and scoring the last goal himself in the 61st.

Santiago Patino - Florida International - SIMA Aguilas

Florida International won big twice this week, and SIMA Aguilas forward Santiago Patino was a big part of both of them. In the Panthers’ first win of the week, a 5-0 victory on Tuesday over North Florida, Patino recorded the second goal of the match in the seventh minute for some early insurance. Later, on Saturday, Patino contributed two goals to the Panthers’ 4-1 win over Florida Atlantic, including the 10th minute match-opener and a third insurance goal in the 61st minute.

Kieran Roberts - Radford - South Georgia Tormenta FC

The Radford Highlanders played just one match this week, a 4-0 win over UNC-Asheville, but that didn’t stop South Georgia Tormenta FC forward Kieran Roberts from putting on a show. The England native accumulated a 56-minute hat trick for the Highlanders, opening the scoring in the seventh minute before adding a second in the 30th and third in the 56th minute. The three goals raise his total to an impressive 11 goals this season through nine matches.

Moshe Perez - Colorado Mesa - FC Tucson

Colorado Mesa locked up another pair of wins to raise their record on the year to a strong 8-1-1, and FC Tucson midfielder Moshe Perez played a big role with a pair of goals and an assist. Perez came up big in the team’s Wednesday win over Westminster, scoring the game-winner in overtime for a 2-1 victory. He did it again on Sunday against South Dakota Mines, assisting the 57th minute game-winner before tacking on a 77th minute insurance goal, raising his total to five on the season.

Honorable Mentions

Ryan Sierakowski - Michigan State - Chicago FC United

Though Michigan State had a difficult time with Akron earlier in the week, Chicago FC United forward Ryan Sierakowski made sure they bounced back quickly in their weekend fixture against Ohio State. Sierakowski accumulated two goals and an assist in Sunday’s 5-1 victory, raising both totals to three on the season. His assist came on the 14th minute opener for the Spartans, while his game-winning goal came just two minutes after the Buckeyes leveled the score and then tacked on another for insurance in the early second half.

Will Bagrou - Mercer - Sounders FC U23

The Mercer Bears also came away with two victories last week, and Sounders FC U23 forward William Bagrou did his part in front of goal. Bagrou scored the eventual game-winner in the team’s 3-1 win over Wofford in the 18th minute, his seventh goal of the season. He followed that up by scoring the team’s third goal in their 4-1 victory over the Virginia Military Institute, a 77th minute strike to the far post to raise his total to eight this year.
