It was a goal-heavy week for PDL players, as all five of our Top Performers this week tallied three or more scoring efforts for their collegiate teams.

Leading the way for what feels like the hundredth time was FC Tucson forward Daniel Musovski, who added to his sky-high goal total with a trio of marks to his name while setting up a fourth goal for a teammate in UNLV’s win over San Jose State this week.

Joining Musovski as top performers this week are Wilmington Hammerheads FC midfielder Cam Lindley, Oklahoma City Energy U23 forward Will Roberts, SIMA Aguilas forward Santiago Patino, and Wilmington Hammerheads FC midfielder David Lozano.

Also honored are FC Tucson defender Aaron Herrera and The Villages SC midfielder Gabriel Torres

Daniel Musovski - UNLV - FC Tucson

While the UNLV Rebels had to settle for a split on their results this week, that didn’t stop FC Tucson forward Daniel Musovski from getting his over a win and a loss. While the Rebels fell to Cal State Bakersfield, 1-0, on Sunday, they did take down San Jose State by a big 5-2 margin earlier in the week. In that match, Musovski had a hand in four of the five Rebels goals. Musovski gave the Rebels the lead in the fifth minute with his first of the night, before breaking the deadlock again with his second in the 10th minute. His third, hat-trick goal came in the 25th minute, giving the Rebels the lead for good, and then he assisted on the team’s fourth goal for insurance in the 57th minute.

Cam Lindley - North Carolina - Wilmington Hammerheads FC

Much like Daniel Musovski and UNLV, Wilmington Hammerheads FC midfielder Cam Lindley and North Carolina had to settle for a split slate of results, winning one against James Madison  and losing another tough match against Wake Forest this week. Again like Musovski, that didn’t stop Lindley from putting up numbers. In the Tar Heels 6-0 shutout of James Madison, Lindley assisted the opening game-winner scored by fellow PDL player Alan Winn, before adding two of his own in the 53rd and 61st minutes. He did his best as well in the team’s 2-1 loss to Wake Forest, scoring the lone goal of the night and sixth of the season in that effort.

Will Roberts - University of Charleston - Oklahoma City Energy U23

The University of Charleston just keeps rolling through NCAA DII, and they added another pair of wins to their perfect 12-0-0 record this season thanks to Oklahoma City Energy U23 forward Will Roberts. In the team’s 3-0 Wednesday victory over Notre Dame College, Roberts assisted the game-winning opener in the 52nd minute before putting two more into the back of the net himself. He followed that with another goal in Sunday’s 3-0 thrashing of Concord, bringing his total to eight on the season.

Santiago Patino - Florida International - SIMA Aguilas

In Florida International’s lone match of the week, SIMA Aguilas forward and No. 27 PDL Top Prospect Santiago Patino had a night to remember. In the Panthers’ 4-0 victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd, Patino scored his NCAA-leading 10th, 11th, and 12th goals in a hat-trick that took just 45 minutes to complete. After opening the scoring for the Panthers in the third minute, Patino added on two more in the 25th and 48th minutes to keep Florida International unbeaten at 6-0-3.

David Lozano - UNC Wilmington - Wilmington Hammerheads FC

Another three goal performer this week hails from North Carolina, where Wilmington Hammerheads FC midfielder David Lozano led UNC Wilmington to a pair of victories over Coastal Carolina and Drexel. In the team’s 3-1 win over the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina, Lozano scored an 82nd minute insurance coal to cap the Seahawks victory. Later, on Saturday, Lozano struck twice in the 14th and 88th minutes of the Seahawks 3-0 win over Drexel, boosting their overall record to 9-2-0 and their conference record to a perfect 4-0-0 this season.

Aaron Herrera - New Mexico - FC Tucson

While FC Tucson defender Aaron Herrera found the net only a meager two times while playing defense for the New Mexico Lobos, he did so while assisting a third goal and keeping a clean sheet this week en route to two victories. In the team’s initial shutout win this week over Loyola Marymount, Herrera scored the opening game-winning goal for the Lobos before assisting a third insurance goal late in the 3-0 win. Herrera followed that up with a second game-winner this week, as he knocked in the second in a 3-1 Lobos victory over Florida Atlantic to boost New Mexico to 7-3-1 this season.

Gabriel Torres - University of D.C. - The Villages SC

Though the University of D.C. Firebirds wound up splitting their two matches between a loss to NYIT and win over Bridgeport, The Villages SC midfielder Gabriel Torres didn’t miss a beat as he continued his torrid goal-scoring pace. In the team’s 2-1 loss to NYIT, Torres powered in the lone tally for the Firebirds for his 12th of the season. He wouldn’t wait long for lucky number 13, as he knocked in a late insurance goal in the 87th minute of the team’s 2-0 win over Bridgeport over the weekend.
