FC Miami City, one of four Southeast Division clubs to qualify for the 2018 U.S. Open Cup, is one of three PDL clubs making their debut in the competition this year.
Now entering its fourth PDL season, FC Miami City has found consistent success in its first three seasons, finishing right around the top of the Southeast Division. After a second place finish in 2015 and a Southern Conference Finals appearance, the club just missed out on the playoffs in 2016 with a third place finish, but bounced back with another runner-up showing in 2017 and another visit to the conference finals.
FC Miami City rolled to its best record yet in 2017, finishing 10-1-3, just one point off division champions SIMA Aguilas. That mark was good enough to qualify them for the 2018 Open Cup, where they’ll make their debut in the play-in round.
FC Miami City enters in the play-in matches of the Open Cup and will host Miami FC 2 on May 6, 7 pm ET at Tropical Park Stadium. Check out a quick history of FC Miami City below.
